The prefix to both terms are very good hints.. In latin the 'cum' can be said to mean 'with' and 'ex' means without'. The term "div" is short for dividends. So cum-div means with dividends and ex-div means without dividends. Usually you will see these terms when you are buying shares. It lets you know if you can expect to be paid dividends or not.
